The Shiver Collective: Books with Lit Shark Magazine energy.
Readers, Writers, and Shark Fans, Say Hi to Lit Shark’s Future Publishing Partner, The Shiver Collective.
In addition to Lit Shark and Lit Pup, the Shiver team wants to publish full-length books and collections. Writers will be able to submit their chapbooks, short story collections, novellas, and full-length books to be included in The Shiver Collective.
Like our magazine submissions, each book will be judged based on its literary qualities and will be read anonymously to ensure a fair, unbiased determination.
We’re interested especially in expressive, lyrical, and nature-focused poetry, literary and ambitious fiction, slow burn and creepy-crawly horror, and insightful, well-researched nonfiction and memoirs rooted in nature, travel, conservation, the body, and the mind.
We’re also interested in supporting authors who have been impacted by closed or defunct publications or steeply limited print runs, though these may be considered outside of the standard submission queue; we’re still sorting that out.
Future Submissions & What to Expect
Once Lit Shark starts to consider full-length titles, submissions will open twice per year.
It will cost $20 to submit. An author can submit as many projects as they wish (fee included for each), and they are welcome to submit the same project to more than one submission period if previously rejected.
1 winner will be selected per submission cycle. The winner will receive $500, 10 copies of their book, and a broadside inspired by their book. Their editing, interior design, cover design, publishing, and marketing will be covered by The Shiver Collective.
The author can get additional copies of their book at a 50% discount, and all those who submit can purchase copies of the winning title for 20% off.
