I hope you’re having a wonderful start to your week! We have a full August still ahead of us, so I thought it might be fun to start something called “The Monday Munch,” a little roundup of what you can expect from us this week.

Lit Shark Has a Substack!

In case you’re a fellow Substacker, we’d love for you to subscribe. We will cross-post our Monday Munch, Friday Feed, and (upcoming) Friday Night Bites on Substack, but we’ll do some original, only-on-Substack content, too, like our take on The Sealey Challenge, writing prompts, and future serialized novels. See you there!

You May Have Noticed a Few Changes on Our Website…

Lit Shark will be getting a fresh new look in the next few months, but the way it’s now organized will mostly stay the same. You’ll now see links for Lit Shark Magazine, Lit Pup Magazine, our Poem of the Month contest, our upcoming Shiver Collective area, How to Submit, and How to Support (donating, Ko-Fi, Substack, and volunteering) on the top row of the website.

Down in the footer, you’ll see information about our team, the community we’re building, all of our literature (i.e., book reviews, author interviews), and our growing hub of marine life and conservation resources. We hope you enjoy this new layout and find it to be easier to navigate!

Now, What Can You Expect from Lit Shark This Week?

First, The Sealey Challenge

We got a little behind with our POSTING, but we’ve been diligently reading one book of poetry per day, as has our Editor-in-Chief. We’ll be back to posting tomorrow and expect to be caught up on posting… probably sometime next week. But we’re on track and are excited to catch you up on what we’ve been reading!

Second, Issue 11 of Lit Shark Magazine: The SHARK DOG Edition

We’re aiming high this month so we can finish this year on a high note!

We want to publish The SHARK DOG Edition by the end of this week.

The SHARK WEEK Edition will come at the end of next week.

And the first book from our Shiver Collective imprint, Ends with a Kiss by Helga Kidder, will come at the end of the month!

If you’d like to “prepare,” Issue 6 of Lit Shark Magazine: The (first) SHARK DOG Edition, is available as a free PDF on our website, or you can support us by buying a paperback edition on Amazon. It remains one of my favorite issues we’ve created so far, and I think Issue 11 is a lovely sequel to the work done in Issue 6.

Third, Shark Month!

We had a very interesting June and July behind the scenes, so we missed out on a lot of the festivities of Shark Month… and we were thoroughly disappointed by the use of AI in this year’s SHARK WEEK, so truth be told, we didn’t really “participate” in watching the newest content.

Throughout the rest of this month, we’re excited to return to and recommend older content, share facts and reserach we find fascinating, and to share writing prompts to bring all of your interests in Shark Month to life – all starting this week!
